Coral Reef, an empowering, independent housing community in Grand Rapids, was inspired by Coral Lettinga, who was diagnosed with autism as a toddler. Coral grew up with her twin sister, Crystal, and the two developed a special connection and a bond like no other.

After Connie’s first husband suddenly passed away, she was forced to figure out what the future would look like for herself and her two daughters, Crystal and Coral. Coral was diagnosed with autism as a toddler, and as Connie was exploring long-term living options for her, she couldn’t find anything that provided all the support and services she was hoping for.
